Original Items: Only One Available. This is a very nice USGI Bring Back grouping from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Per the information we received with this small grouping:

These items were brought back by PDF Walter M. Heuer (Bronze Star) following his service in New Guinea and the Philippines with the 31st Infantry Division during WWII.

The grouping consists of the following:

- One U.S. ARMY FIELD RATION K BREAKFAST UNIT, packed by the Hills Brothers Co. in New York City, NY. This unit was opened, long ago apparently, and some of the contents are most likely missing.

- One U.S. Army Waist Belt, marked U.S. J.Q.M.D. 1941 in size 40.

- One Bottle of Quinacrine Hydrocloride pills, 100count, an early Anti-malarial treatment.

- One Small Arms Cartridge, which looks to be 6.5×50 Japanese Arisaka, which would be correct for the pacific theater. It has a spent primer.

- One Small Pocket / Pen knife that PFC Heuer carried with him. It has a small plaque with the initials FLT on the side and mother of pearl grip scales.

- One leather wrist bracelet given to PFC Heuer by a women in New Guinea.

- One small wooden carving  given to Heuer by a child in the Philippines that he befriended.

Overall this is a great little set, very typical of the small items brought back from the Pacific Theater of WWII. Worthy of further research and ready to display!

More on the K-Ration:
The K-ration was an individual daily combat food ration which was introduced by the United States Army during World War II. It was originally intended as an individually packaged daily ration for issue to airborne troops, tank crews, motorcycle couriers, and other mobile forces for a short duration. The K-ration provided three separately boxed meal units: breakfast, dinner (lunch) and supper (dinner).

The K-ration originally came packed in an unbleached tan-colored rectangular cardstock box with black lettering. The outer box was printed on its top in bold capital sans serif block letter type with the text: "US ARMY FIELD RATION K", with the meal unit type (BREAKFAST, DINNER, or SUPPER UNIT) printed underneath it and a capital letter on each end (B, D, or S). While it was intended that the three meals be eaten in their named order, they were not always consumed in this manner. The inner box had the meal unit type printed across its top and a capital letter on each end (B, D, or S).
