Corduroy Tamarind
Let’s hear it for the home team.
Corduroy tamarind's real name is Mischarytera lautereriana, it’s an Australian native rainforest tree with a beautifully rounded canopy. Foliage emerges a bright pinky-red that gives a vibrant pop of colour after a dreary winter.
The pink flush matures into a fresh green canopy that casts dappled shade on your lawn. In the warmer months, small flowers appear before developing into little bird-attracting fruits.
There’s no need to be scared of growing a tree. They start small and with the right care grow rapidly into strong, structural features that attract wildlife. This is a quick grower if you keep up the watering - it’ll reach ten metres.
Trivia time! The name corduroy comes from the trunk’s texture.
